Hydrofracking

Hydrofracking services are available for slow production wells. The whole process requires two packers and two large high-pressure pumps to double the amount of water and pressure that is injected into the well.

• Mud rotary
• Only used when necessary on deep cased wells or geothermal wells without casing
• Drilling mud is circulated to bring up drill cuttings and stabilize the borehole
• Drillers must determine aquifer by looking at mud cuttings
• Faster but less precise
• Larger hole is drilled to depth, and then the casing is set in place and grouted
• Casing is not moved once set
• Water can be only tested once the casing is installed
• Dual rotary air
• The newest method in our area was introduced in 2018
• Similar to air-driven wells
• Casing is advanced by rotating simultaneously with the drill bit while the drill bit is 1" to 1 ft. ahead of the casing
• Water can be tested as we drill
